Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan’s (RIM) Neurorecovery Center on the campus of the Detroit Medical Center is a high-intensity, non-traditional, outpatient therapy program for individuals who want to maximize function, independence and well-being
following a spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputation or other neurological condition.
Our Neurorecovery Center incorporates innovative therapeutic techniques based on the newest information available from emerging research around the globe. Our experienced team works one-on-one with you to develop a creative, individual therapeutic exercise
program, aimed at neuromuscular re-education and activating impaired muscles and nerves.
Treatment programs are customized to help patients reach their goals and includes up to four hours of therapy a day.
One-on-one treatment is delivered by an experienced rehabilitation team, including:
- physical therapists
- occupational therapists
- speech-language pathologists
- social workers
- neuropsychologists
- athletic trainers
- rehab trainers
Some of the advanced therapeutic equipment and services we provide include:
- Exoskeleton robotic technology
- Certified training specialists for Indego and ReWalk exoskeleton home units
- Functional electrical stimulation (RT 300 Cycle, RT 600 Elliptical and Xcite)
- Upper and lower extremity Bioness training
- Closed chain/weight-bearing/ambulation activities with or without bracing
- Aquatic therapy
RIM’s Neurorecovery Center treats patients all over the country and world, who need advanced treatment and specialized expertise that is not available at home. The Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is a short 20-minute ride to RIM and we are less
than 10 minutes away from the Canadian border in Windsor. The Detroit Medical Center’s International Services staff can provide assistance in coordinating your stay as an international visitor.
