When the show must go on, DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan's (RIM) Dance Medicine Program can help. RIM's Dance Medicine Program is dedicated to the health, education, training, and performance of dancers and dance educators in southeast Michigan.
Our goal is to help dancers improve performance through rehabilitation and injury prevention.
Specialized Care
RIM's physical therapists and athletic trainers are members of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science. They have advanced training in dance medicine and experience working with professional, college, school and studio dancers in a
variety of dance genres.
Our staff specializes in treating:
- Foot and ankle injuries
- Back injuries
- Groin pain
- Knee injuries
- Sudden sprains or pulls
- Hip injuries
- Bursitis and tendonitis
- Stress fractures
- Support Services
We understand the demands of dance and how to help dancers stay flexible, strong, and injury-free. In addition to providing dance injury evaluation and treatment, RIM's Dance Medicine Program also provides:
- Technique assessment
- Evaluation for pointe readiness
- Dance specific training and conditioning
- Educational lectures for dance teachers on injury prevention and basic care
